Meet Owner and Head Trainer, Aaron Marmon

Aaron was born in Collinsville, Illinois with a German Shepherd named Baron by his side and has been around dogs his entire life and has always had an affinity for animals, especially canines.

As a Veteran of the US Army, Aaron is a Paratrooper who has trained with some of the most Elite Combat Teams in the world (including: U.S. Army 7th Group Special Forces, Marine Force Recon, 75th Ranger Battalion) in 2005 he was attached to a Military Police K9 unit while he was a member of the 82nd Airborne Division in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. This was his introduction to high level working dogs in a working environment and he got to see how they operated kennels and structured their training sessions.

After the Army, Aaron worked with a Private Security Firm and got to spend time with more working dogs in the process, this time as a handler himself.  After rescuing 2 wolf dog puppies, he decided to work with dogs full time and joined a large dog training company as a trainer. After becoming head trainer at the companies Portland location, Aaron started a boarding facility on an 18 acre vegetable farm in Clackamas, Oregon. After that Aaron decided to start his own dog training company and opened Portland Dog Training LLC. He specializes in service dog training as well as basic obedience for family dogs.

Aaron has volunteered over 4 years in Search and Rescue, specializing in both K9 air scent and tracking. He has been apart of countless searches and has helped train dozens of dogs in Search in Rescue training with 3 separate K9 teams in 2 different states.

In late 2021 Aaron and his family decided to move back home to the St. Louis area and brought his dog training philosophy with him. He now offers the St. Louis area his unique perspective on training dogs that he has leaned from the Army, Search and Rescue as well as working with some of the top dog trainers in the world.
